Hi, I’m Betsy.
I manage the NMS team, head up all the grant writing and research projects and communications projects, and am your go-to for anything that requires organization, measurable outcomes and eagle eyes. I also coach clients on managing the grant process and organization communications.
Background: Writing and editing has been my professional focus since I co-edited her high school yearbook. Since then, I’ve worked in journalism, marketing/communications and public relations, primarily in the nonprofit and higher education industries.
Along the way, I have had the good fortune to work with some fantastic nonprofits, so when the opportunity came up to start NMS with then-partner Lori, I jumped on it. I’ve devoted lots of time and energy to helping small and medium-sized nonprofits survive and thrive. My favorite thing about working with nonprofit staff, board members and volunteers is that their enthusiasm for their cause is often infectious. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, and spending time with my family. I also like baking, the Atlanta Braves, being outdoors and the beach.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in English from Meredith College and a Master’s in English with a British and American Literatures concentration from North Carolina State University. I have taken grant writing coursework at The University of Georgia.
Nonprofit Involvement: I am a member of the Georgia chapter of the Grant Professionals Association. I have volunteered with several nonprofits, and have served on the boards of directors for the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra and the Meredith College Alumnae Association.
Location: Metro Atlanta.
