NICU Helping Hands

NICU Helping Hands develops hospital and community based projects that provide support and education to families during and after their infants hospitalization in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Our mission is to provide comprehensive support and education programs and empower families with the information and skills needed to not only successfully navigate their time in the NICU but to feel confident in their ability to navigate the post NICU environment as well.

Fort Worth, Texas

Who do you serve?

Since opening our doors, NICU Helping Hands has not only served its local community but has had the privilege of serving families all across the country who are looking for education, support, and a helping hand during one of the most difficult journeys they will ever make.

NICU Helping Hands was created in the summer of 2010 because of the overwhelming need in Fort Worth, Texas for a local organization that could support parents both educationally and emotionally.  It is our mission to provide comprehensive support programs and resources to parents of premature infants not only during their stay in the NICU but during and after their transition home.

NICU Helping Hands’ Angel Gown Program began in 2013 because we recognized the  overwhelming need to support families who lost a baby while in the hospital. Our Angel Gown Program provides comfort for families by providing a beautiful gown for final photos and for burial services. There is no greater gift that can be given to a grieving family than affirming the importance of the life of their child by offering this simple gift.

Sewn with love by volunteer seamstresses, donated wedding gowns are used to create beautiful gowns for families grieving the death of their child.

It is an honor for us to provide gowns free of charge to any family or hospital requesting our Angel Gown garments. Other non-profits providing bereavement services to families can also submit requests. Requests from hospitals should be completed here.

All urgent or time sensitive requests from families or hospitals should be made by filling out this form.

Please note: This program is available nationally. Not only do we accept gowns from around the country, we provide any NICU with the Angel Gown garments. We welcome volunteer seamstresses in locations outside of DFW.

Proudest accomplishment

We feel fortunate enough to say we have never had to turn a family in need away.  We strive to be a “yes” organization that helps any NICU family in need.
