In May we attended the Georgia Center for Nonprofits Summit, an annual conference. We met new faces in the Georgia nonprofit world and reconnected with current nonprofit friends over two solid days.
We learned about areas of nonprofit work we hadn’t really studied before. Because we primarily take on the role of a make-shift development director, many areas such as board governance, liability law and international outsourcing aren’t topics we study much. It was a great experience to expand our circle of understanding and meet some truly inspiring organizations and people.
It was also beneficial to attend lectures that dealt with our exact focus: fundraising, grant writing, social media, social impact, marketing and branding. It’s a great opportunity to determine if you are keeping up with the changes, if you are aware of the market trends, current research and data and new effective tools that can help streamline organizations we support.
We live tweeted the entire conference on our page @yournonprofit. We will be sharing the information we learned and how it can be most relevant to you and your organization. Here are some snapshots of our favorite takeaways:
Besides these tangible takeaways, we also listed out action items for our nonprofit clients. We are excited to share the information with those who could not attend and help you better engage your community, implement strategy and succeed with your mission!
