To change the perception of adoption through honest, informative, and hopeful communication that conveys the heroism and bravery a birthmother displays when she places her child with a loving family through adoption.
BraveLove was founded in 2012 by an adoptive mom. The idea was to raise awareness by showing how adoption can be a loving and viable option for women faced with an unplanned pregnancy. Its mission and vision evolved, and here we are today – working hard to be a hub for reliable adoption information. Furthermore, we hope to encourage a culture supportive of birth mothers. We believe birthmothers are heroes, and adoption can be a beautiful thing.
Q. Who do you serve?
A. We believe adoption support has no borders. People from all over the country are following the movement, watching our videos, and helping spread the word that adoption is a loving option for mother and child. We hope to raise awareness by honoring birth mothers for their selfless decision to place their child with a family.
Q. What is your organization’s biggest accomplishment?
A. We officially kicked off the BraveLove movement in the fall of 2012. We were expecting around 200 guests to attend our launch party. To our surprise, nearly 350 guests arrived and there was a line out the door! We wouldn’t be where we are today if that crowd hadn’t shown up. Seeing a community come together to support adoption was a proud (and exciting) moment in the history of BraveLove.
Looking back on the past two years, we’ve met some amazing birth moms, partnered with excellent adoption agencies, connected with pregnancy resource centers & health clinics, advertised our positive adoption message, hosted roundtables and birth mom dinners, gifted Birth Mother’s Day care packages, participated in conferences & panels, and shared hopeful adoption stories through BraveLove.org.
Q. What is Bravelove’s biggest need?
A. Right now, support. We need people to give financially so we can begin research and produce effective resources that will enable communities to come together and begin to see adoption as a positive option for women faced with unplanned pregnancies.
Q. What are the organization’s plan for the future?
A. We have big dreams for BraveLove. We hope to become a platform for stories, a hub for reliable adoption info, and a voice for birthmothers. We plan to begin research, produce videos, develop educational resources, connect birth mothers, and continue to share stories of bravery. We aim to empower women to choose adoption. We want birth mothers to be championed and supported for their loving decision.
