We are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate adult seniors about current technology and the tools available to them to connect and communicate with family and friends. By receiving hands-on workshops in the community where they live, seniors will have a fun, comfortable, and convenient way to learn how to use technology, find information online, and stay alert and active.
Blue Hair Group (BHG) began in 2012 when Executive Director Jane Ratliff realized her mother, and many other seniors, could utilize technology in positive ways, helping them stay in touch with loved ones. She developed a series of workshops geared toward educating seniors on how to use the technology their children and grandchildren were using.

Who do you serve?
In short, senior adults. Most of the workshop participants are female and over the age of 75, though the community workshops have been given to some adults over age 55.
We’re so proud of each of our workshop graduates. It’s wonderful to see seniors become confident about using devices and finding information online. It changes their lives.
Our greatest need is to find volunteers to help us facilitate our classes. We give 10 or more workshops some weeks, and the executive director can’t teach all of those. Volunteers are an integral part of how BHG works. We hold volunteer trainings often to prepare adults to teach workshops in senior living facilities in the Metro Atlanta area.
Plans for the future
We’ll expand our classes beyond iPads, iPhones and finding information online. As we grow we’ll be able to serve more seniors in more places who want to learn about more devices.
